Text Box: The Kungoni Art Gallery is a tribute to creative artists who, with humble beginnings, have been innovators in their own field for the past 3 decades. Today, they are known as Malawi’s best wood carvers. The gallery provides a historical evolution of many individuals art work that, from 1976 till now, have been the spearheads of the Kungoni production. Some of their work is acclaimed internationally in places such as the Vatican Museum and Buckingham Palace. Their work can also be found in homes and churches as private collection. The Art Gallery is a tribute to the local artists from the land. Over the years, artisans at Kungoni have developed into full fledged individual artists with their own characteristic style and perception. They have captured Malawi’s life and culture and rendered it with a technical skill unique to Kungoni School. Opening hours: The Kungoni Art Centre is open every day from 7:30am till 4:00pm, except on Sunday.
